Armed robbery at La Romaine Health Centre | News Extra

Gun-toting criminals pounced outside the compound of the La Romaine Health Centre and robbed a man of his jewellery on Tuesday morning.

After exiting the health centre, the victim was walking to the car park when he was robbed at gunpoint by two thieves.

Officers of the La Romaine Police Post, San Fernando CID, Southern Division Task Force, and other police units responded to the incident but no suspects have as yet been detained in connection with the case.

A statement from the South-West Regional Health Authority which manages the La Romaine Health Centre read, “The SWRHA advises that we are aware of an incident, which occurred at the entrance of the La Romaine Health Centre at 7.30 a.m. on May 23rd, 2023. We also advise that the incident has since engaged the attention of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.”

Much-needed makeover confirmed for Lettermacaward Health Centre

Lettermacaward Health Centre is to get a much needed makeover.

The health centre was closed in November following concerns that the building was not fit for purpose.

Now, it will reopen but no date has been given for when this will happen.

Deputy Pearse Doherty and Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher have welcomed the news.

Cllr Gallagher said “The people of Leitir had been very concerned for the future of the health centre and had made it clear how important it was to have a health centre in the area.

“They had started a petition and held public meetings in order to keep the issue to the fore.

“I am delighted to receive the news that remedial work will now be undertaken on the building during the coming months and hopefully the centre will be back up and running shortly.”

Lettermacaward health centre is to reopen after remedial work is undertaken in the coming months.

The news comes after Sinn Féin’s Donegal TD Pearse Doherty and Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher made representations to the HSE regarding the future of the health centre.

The health centre was closed in November following concerns that the building was not fit for purpose.

Compass Health to open comprehensive children’s center

Starting June 5, Compass Health Network’s Children’s Center will open its doors to mid-Missourians.

Children will be able to go from their dental appointment to their doctor’s appointment and then to therapy — all under one roof. The Children’s Center, in eastern Columbia, will also offer limited vision care and psychiatric services.

The integrated health care model “reduces depressive symptoms, enhances access to services, improves quality of care” and “lowers overall health care costs,” according to the American Psychological Association.

Karen Cade, vice president of corporate services for Compass Health’s central region, said the organization researches how to best serve Missourians. Compass Health serves 42 counties with eight locations in Columbia, nine with the new center.

Cade is also a part of the Health Department’s steering committee, which produces community health assessments and holds conversations with Missourians to decide what services are most needed in the cities they serve. Compass

Healthy Benefits Restrictions: Can you use your card on Amazon?

There’s exciting news for those of you with Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Amazon has stepped up its game and is now accepting FSA and HSA cards as a payment method for eligible products. So, you can say goodbye to those last-minute trips to the store for medical supplies when you can have them conveniently delivered to your doorstep.

To use your FSA or HSA card on Amazon, simply add it as a payment option in your account. Just remember, some HSA cards need to be registered as credit cards to ensure they are used solely for eligible products. According to Amazon, “If you register your HSA card as a credit card, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the card is used only for eligible products.” So, exercise caution and double-check before you hit that “buy” button.

Healthy Benefits Plus Program: What can you buy with your card?

Many citizens and residents in the United States are wondering exactly what comes from a Humana Medicare Advantage plan and the Healthy Options allowance.

The allowance allows for people to pay for their essential living expenses and, as a result, allows them to feel closer to their healthy best. Examples of what can be bought are over-the-counter products, utilities, rent, pet food and the like.

How much is Healthy Options allowance?

Healthy Options allowance varies depending on plan and location, but allowances range from 35 to 275 dollars per month and it is stored on the member’s Humana Spending Account Card, which replaces the Healthy Foods Card.

Who qualifies for the allowance?

There are, of course, some eligibility requirements for the scheme, and the Healthy Options allowance is offered to the following Humana Medicare Advantage plans:

  • 100 percent of Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans;

Self-care and work-life balance: Health care workers need both to prevent burnout

Last week, the government rescinded the COVID-19 public health emergency declaration. As we explore our “new normal,” I want to highlight two lessons that the pandemic taught me: self-care and the importance of finding value beyond work.

I’m disappointed to see the revival of hustle-and-grind culture — a stark change from the early 2022 discussions of boundaries, self-care and work-life balance. My TikTok feed has gone from joyful “GRWM” (“get ready with me”) videos, self-care talks, leveraging for raises and @Saraisthreads’ “Veronica at Work” videos, to interview tips, side hustles and creators commiserating about corporate layoffs.

In my graduate social work class, I always dedicate a module to self-care. Over time, I’ve found countless articles stating that self-care helps health care workers better serve their patients, be more productive at work, take fewer sick days — generally, be more successful by extrinsic, objective measures.
